En el verano de 1999, el entonces presidente Bill Clinton (junto con el actual aspirante a candidato a la presidencia Hillary Rodham Clinton) organizó una noche fabulosa en la Casa Blanca.
El presidente y la señora Clinton dieron la bienvenida a la blusera Della Reese, el legendario artista, BB King, el prodigio del blues Jonny Lang , al exitoso dúo de blues John Cephas & Phil Wiggins, y en el piano la gran Marcia Ball en "Legends of the Blues: In Performance at the White House".Este fue el segundo en concierto en la Casa Blanca que WETA, en asociación con NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, producido en Televisión de Alta Definición (HDTV).
